Well hello everyone! I’m back here and this is a very special project that I want to work on to warm up those marketing skills! Althought you guys don’t know me, I think with this we will be able to reach and get to know eachother a little bit better. First I want to start by confessing someting:
I LOVE MUSIC!
This is no secret and if you ask someone that actually have met me, well they will agree.
Music takes a very importa space of my time and my life, such a cliché statement, but is the truth. Yesterday I was going through my stuff and find this notebook that my brother gave me for Chrismas (mostly because I pretty much insisted that it was going to be the best present every) and I am now dusting it off and sharing with you guy: my Music Listography.
Starting this project to fill it out, I decided to create a hashtag on instagam: #MusicFriday. Every friday I will post one of the questions on my Music Listography for you to say which one is your favorite and for me to be able to make up my list! From your suggestiong I will be creating my list and posting it here, in my blog for you to read the definitive #Top20.
Hope you are as exited as I am with this new project and end up having fun! See ya this friday!
Last Thursday I had the chance to assist to the opening to a new store with a very interesting concept. It’s name is wa’kü, and even though there is no meaning to the world on Collins English Dictionary, it concept is fresh, inclusive and very original.
Being a gallery as well as a store, the interior design is focused towards displaying all it products like a pieces of art, to learn to appreciate the fabric of the clothing, the color of the paintings & the reflection of the light in the jewelry.
From clothes from Sister Jane, with a distinctive and fun design, to pieces from Raul Del Sol‘s exhibition “Entomology”, the place is filled with a very good vibe. For the opening party, the hosts had jägermeister’s shots, the poisson for happines & music by Inma Gomes to set the mood.
I personally invite you to visit this store, they are at the Raval, the center of design and cultural movement in the heart of Barcelona at Carrer de la Lluna 2, or visit their Facebook Page and have a preview with their cool pics.
One of my favorite color of all time is color nude. It’s a simple tone but with so much potential and edge. This color can be found on lipstick, clothing, shoes and nail polish.
When it comes to make up, for me as natural looking as you can look, the better. But when I say natural looking, I mean try to look as radian, flawless skin tone, flattering eye lining and pink lips as you can look, basically looking your better self. And to achieve this looks it’s something very difficult because you want to look fresh without showing any imperfection… Like passing yourself through Photoshop.
Someone else can give a master class on how to achieve natural look, since it’s not my forté. But one of the few things that I enjoy about this natural look is the nude lipstick. There are a lot of great brands in the market, but I personally prefer M.A.C. cosmetics. A little tip that I’ve learned reading too many magazines, the trick to get that picture perfect nude lip is to have a good moisturizer, some concealer and, depending of the pinkness of your lips, a nude/blush lipstick.
To leave you with the idea, here are some examples of great natural looking makeup with nude lipstick.
For me, this is the best kind of manicure to get. It is simple, resistant and clean finish. Usually, for ladies with little free time, it’s a way to keep it light, matches with every outfit and it’s great for a week to week manicure color. But if you want to get funky, there are so many combinations to get: Black & Nude, Glittery, French, Ombré, among others styles.
With countless brands and tone you can choose what fits you better and try it out. There is always a perfect one for each skin tone either if you want it to be seamless or you want to make a statement. O.P.I. always is the best choice for manis, it is an excellent brand and you bet they will last for a long time. Other brands that I enjoy using are Sephora & H&M, they have a smaller package so I can try out with different colors. Also they dry faster.
Last but not least, let’s get dressed! There are lots of clothing essentials you can have and make a bold statement. The beauty of this color is that even with a very elaborate dress, it gives the impression that you have less clothing than other colors, so there is a sexiness hidden. Whenever I chose to dress with nude clothing I always wear nude underwear and match the outfit with nude shoes as well. To wrap it up I opted to leave you with some of my favorites red carpet looks with nude gowns/dresses.
If you enjoyed this post and want to have more ideas about what and how to wear this amazing color, I invite you to visit my Pinterest Board: “Color Nude In Fashion”.
Recently I was introduced to this store and by the moment I went in, I felt in love with it. It’s a Sweden brand called “& other stories” and their modo goes something like this:
“Today, a woman with a love for fashion creates her own style. She wears things that feel right to her and reflect her personality.”
And this brand certainly have personality…
The store have a minimalist, design studio style that allows the clothing to pop up. Shapes and fabrics that are very original, every piece tells a story, a different story for the person who buys it.
Working with great designers from around the world like Swedish shoe designer Disa Treutiger, American illustrator Alyson Fox & English designer Marten Andreasson, gives it a sense that is clothing that can be worn by women from different background by with a unique fashion style. To complement, create and evolve into personality. And making a valuable & sustainable clothing is a requirement they have on all suppliers when it comes to environmental practices and working conditions for their employees.
And the variety is to die for. I have to admit the weakness that I have for shoes, even though I cannot wear all of their kind, does not mean that I don’t fall for them over and over. It is amazing the shapes and colors, and how can give a traditional and classic pair, a twist into design and originality.
If you are interested to learn about the brand, visit their website & if you would like to see some of my fave pieces, look at my pinterest board: & other stories.
One of the things I like the most about Spring is that every thing is blooming again: flowers, trees and fabrics. As you might be aware, when winter falls, hues fall with it. Not only the days seems gray but clothing is rule by dark and sad colors. But when see sun ray that brings back the green and see that first leave blooming, you know what is coming… A garden and stores full of bright patterns, and my favorite the floral fabric patter.
As I looked over the spring collections for this year, I chosen a few pieces that caught my eye from some known designers. The pieces go from everyday wearing to cocktail dresses, finishing with a night-gown.
The american with chinese roots impress me very much with his modern style. Pieces with cutting edge lines but keeping it classic with some jeans and flower patters. I really liked the mix and I’ve chosen these two pieces which I liked the most.
Since I met her back when Sex and the City was still on air, she blew me away with her out-of-the-box style. The english fashion designer still inspire and shock us with waves of great looks and a lot of asymmetric pieces. Here are my favorites from this season’s line.
Last, but no least. This designer has fill the season with body tight cocktail and cinderella gowns, taking romanticism to the next level. I specially love the puffiness of the dresses, as a really celebration of fairy tales. Here I leave you with a dress and a gown.
This past saturday my dear friend Paula Maso invited me to one of the “most girlie days” that we had, quoting her own words. She invited me to this workshop called “Caffè di Fiore” where Pepe Von Strüdel taught us different ways to make an original flower arrangement.
We met at Meeating23, this lovely three floor gallery where you can have any kind of intimate event and they’ll arrange the place just for you. The workshop was going to take place on the third floor and they have arranged the most elegant table for us nine girls. Each one of the assistant were very interesting bloggers and we all were very exited with what we were going to learn.
The first activity was to make a decorative jelly with eatable flowers. There were to types of jelly, transparent tasteless and reddish watermelon. Pepe bought organic flowers that were cultivated without any kind of chemical so they were good to eat and they smell delicious!
For me was very interesting the whole idea of making an eatable flower arrangement, eating flowers is not something that I am accustom to do but I was not unfamiliar with the concept. I even try some of the flowers to get around of the idea on how the dish was going to taste.
We then moved on to a second arrangement, very small and delicate. We were to use a cup to be our flower vase. To stick the flowers Pepe used styrofoam which soaked up before cutting a piece of each one of us, he then gave us pink little french ranunculus and roses and we started to mold our arrangement.
It was an honor to be at the first edition of “Caffè di fiore”, spring edition. If you want to learn more about the dates of next even, please leave a comment or visit Von Strüdel‘s Flower Shop website. Hope to see you in the next workshop!
I’ve been living in Barcelona, Spain for almost four years. I am originally from Venezuela and even though I visit often there has been quite some time that I’ve spent Mother’s day with mom. This year turned out to be different, she has come to visit with dad and I’ve decided to look for that special gift for her.
Browsing to find ideas
Being in the “online all the time” society, I tend to go directly to the online stores to browse. But more than that, I am a fan of social networks. Some of them are the perfect spot to browse for gift ideas! The most popular right now are the ones that are “board like”.
Pinterest is the first one in everybody’s mind because it is incredible how in one place you can type a word or a sentence of what you might look and a hundred of pictures pop up on your screen. For me is stronger than Google, since you can look for the exact page of the item, some of them have attached the price, you can see which are more popular (popular pins) and find items that never thought exists in a million years.
From Pinterest you have some derived. If your mom is more into interior design and you want to look for a unique and cool gift, Fab is your place. From furniture to jewelry you have different styles and tastes, surely you can find a great gift there. And now they have this new cool feature to design your own furniture, so you can take creativity to a next level and have your one of a kind design.
Great stores to look on
After looking what is out there on the net, I decided to go to look on the actual store. Call me old fashion, but I really enjoy the feeling of walking through the store and observing everything to find an item that pops my eye and takes me back to a memory. There is where a find a worth to give gift. One of the stores that I am currently obsess with is Zara Home. It is incredible the variety that you can find: so many collections, each one full of color and styles. Personally I feel that is the interior designer’s paradise.
Another one that I recently found is Muji. The brand, originally from Japan, have a big range of useful but well design items that are great gift for anyone. The look is very minimalist, but what I liked the most about it is the level of detail and great quality. I even got the catalog to look at home and fantasize a little of how great the furniture would look.
Last but not least, if you are more into fun & original details, Tiger is the place to go. Since the day I was introduced to it, I fell completely in love. Items full of color and inventive, they are great to create a gift basket king of present. And the best part are the prices!
With all this, I hope to help you to find the best and most thoughtful present for that special mom.
After staying quiet that friday afternoon, it was time to head out and get to know the night life of the city. I was meeting with a group of colleges from work. Three of us were foreigns (Timur, Francisco and me) and Mike, who was a Towner, so it was up to him to show us a good time. I was the only one that was her first time on the city, so I intended to suck the vibe of every place we went like a sponge.
First stop was Lord Edward Pub. It have this old-time tourist bar feeling. All wood with part of green in its walls and furniture, playing a rugby game at its numerous plasma TVs and serving every kind of pint. Even though I arrived fashionably late, we stayed for only one drink and headed of to have dinner. Reference said that the food there was really good but we had something more conventional in mind.
We left the place towards Camden St. to go to Camden Rotisserie. The place is very well decorated with the southern theme and the ambient is rust and familiar. You can find the traditional drinks like ice tea and your southern side dishes like hand cut fries. We ordered the “Chicken Schnitzler” & the “Pulled Chicken” with sides of smash potatoes, carrot and parsnip pure and beer battered onion rings. All was exquisite in a comfort food kind of way, best meal to get energy to go out drinking.
Then we stopped by the Mercantile Bar, there we had a drink and watched a band playing live. I loved the environment of the bar, was like going to this cool friend house who knows a lot about music, was forming his own high school rock band and decided to invite the whole class to his house while his parent were out for the weekend. Lot of people of different styles and ages were there just for the music and for a moment I though that I would have LOVE to grow up in this kind of environment: every weekend going to different pubs finding this awkwardly great newcomer bands that were going to be the next big thing and I was there to presence it first, becoming the first fan base and just feeling like that moment was the beginning of the history of music.
After that we went to Sweeney’s Bar. We did not stay long so it did not make an impression to me, but it is definitely a place that I would like to go back, just to give it a chance, stay, have a few drinks and make an opinion about it. We make it to a couple of more places, all of them great, but unfortunately for me we only stayed less than an hour in each.
Dublin definitely have one of the most alive night life that I have experience, because it was not to get waisted in alcohol, but to meet new people, enjoy great music, drink the best whiskey in town and feel alive by the lights of the city. It was worth it to stay until 4:00 am and just enjoy the city.
The city have a lot of great places to wine and dine, besides the Temple Bar. So I invite you to get lost in those streets and enjoy what the city have to offers.
Last weekend I had the joy to participate in one of the unofficial Holi One Color Festivals here in Barcelona. It was the first time for me and I really didn’t know what to expect. Just saw some pictures and the only thing that I was looking forward to was ending up with my face full of colors. It took place at the Carmel Square (Plaza Carmel), a small space in the north side of Barcelona. The day was sunny and warm to enjoy a sunday of fun. The festival started at 10:00 am, but we arrived around 12:30 m and it was already full. At 13:00pm there was no color bags’ left, people were wondering around to find groups with color powder left. Fortunately for me, my friends brought some colors they had left from a previous festival. One thing to add to the check list of things to bring to the official festival!
After the festival I decided to investigate a little about the main idea of the Holi Color Festival is and its origin. Holi is a spring festival celebrated by Hindus as a festival of colors. It is primarily held at India and Nepal, but you can also find the festival in Bangladesh and Pakistan. The main purpose of the festival is to celebrate the beginning of a new season, in this case Spring. Hindus believe it is a time of enjoying spring’s abundant colours and saying farewell to winter. For me was a great plan for a different weekend, to be around friends, laugh and end up looking like a rainbow!
If you want to know more about the festival, when it will be on your city or places nearby, visit the official Holi One Color webpage!
One of the streets that I frequently walk by in Barcelona is Passeig de Gracia. Since I work in one of the building I love to walk over and take pictures of my favorites showcases.
Recently a new designer store opened and it caught my eye immediately: Max&Co boutique. For those like me that don’t know who they are, they are a retail project from the Max Mara Fashion Group. It was launched on 1986, they have dedicated to real fashion-conscious woman eager to put together a personal style with their clothing, accessories and why not?… Ideas.
There is a sweet feeling about the showcase, might be the pastel color, the soft fabrics of the clothing or just the lighting that makes me want to enter and buy every item of the store. The official opening party took place past April 12th where they invited the renown names in Barcelona’s fashion spotlight.
Even though the temptation was not bearable, I decided better to browse their web to find more about the Sprint collection and look for more unique pieces. One of the first thing that I looked for was this pair of floral print trousers and shirt that I saw in the showcase. The silk floral fabric is perfect for spring time, fresh and loose.
I also notice another items that caught my eye. A soft blue dress that I find perfect for a Sunday garden lunch, with printed silk ballerinas and eye-popping yellow maxi-bag.
If you want to enjoy more of the pieces that I liked the most I invite you to visit my Pintrest board: Spring Colors Max&Co
